Based on Katharina Reiss' s text type theory, the paper selects The Battered Woman Syndrome as the translation material. For the three problems encountered in the process of translation including highly professional words in original text, such as psychological expertise related to domestic violence, complicated syntactic levels and unclear logic relationship, the translator proposed the corresponding translation strategies to further explore the application of text type theory in the investigation report text.Under the guidance of the text type theory, the translator first discusses the text type of The Battered Woman Syndrome.According to Reiss' s classification of text types, combined with the content characteristics,it is determined that the text belongs to informative text. Then, according to the text type characteristics of the text, from the lexical and syntactic levels, the paper discusses the translation strategies respectively for the vocabulary forms, the differences of voices between English and Chinese and the differences of sentences structures between English and Chinese. In conclusion,at the lexical level, the translator adopts: the literal translation and the contextual translation method;at the syntactic level, the author uses: reconstruction of conversion between active and passive sentences, reconstruction of sentence structure. This report firstly describes the content of the translation task and introduces the translation process. Then, based on the cases and theory,it analyzes the target text and finally summarizes the translation practice. It is expected that this practice report will provide references for the translation of the texts of investigation reports in the future, summarizing effective strategies.
