A Report On The Translation Of Blockchain: Hype Or Innovation (Chapter 4)

At present,e-CNY is developing like a raging fire.As its pilot areas and application scenarios are continuously increasing,it has been greatly promoting the reform of the monetary system.The new crypto-currency is just based on new Internet technology,especially blockchain technology.However,many people know little about blockchain and often confuse it with Bitcoin.In order to make readers better understand the difference between blockchain technology and Bitcoin,and promote the dissemination of its basic knowledge in China,the author selects chapter four of the book Blockchain:Hype or Innovation,jointly completed by Tatiana Gayvoronskaya and Christoph Meinel,as the translation practice material,and hopes to explore the translation skills and methods required in the English-Chinese translation of science texts,and accumulate translation experience for such kind of texts.In this translation practice,the author adopts Yan Fu’s translation standard of"faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance" and a variety of translation techniques,such as extension of word meaning,adding or reducing meaning,separating and combining sentences and so on.On the basis of guaranteeing the accuracy of the translation,the author conveys the information of the original text in a concise and clear language,and strives to achieve the close transmission effect between the source text and the target text.This practice report consists of four parts.Firstly,it briefly introduces the source text of this practice.Secondly,it describes preparation,tools,and methods related to this translation practice.After that,the difficulties encountered in this practice are classified into three levels:vocabulary,syntax and discourse,then typical examples are picked up for specific case analysis.Finally,it summarizes this practice and states what can be improved.The report is a comprehensive summary of the translation process.Through the practice,the author has not only understood the relevant knowledge of blockchain and Bitcoin,but also gained practical experience in translation.
