Continuation writing is a new type of test in college entrance examination.It has become the focus and difficulty of English teaching in high school.How to carry on the continuation writing exercise efficiently and improve students’ writing score is one of the questions that English teachers pay close attention to.The core literacy is the embodiment of the subject education value,is the correct value idea,the essential characteristic and the key ability which the student forms gradually through the subject study.High school English core literacy includes four dimensions: language ability,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability.This study is to explore the methods and effects of integrating core literacy into the teaching of continuation writing.Not only pay attention to the improvement of students’ language ability,but also pay attention to the cultivation of students’ thinking quality.In the teaching of continuation writing,creating a thematic context according to the text type.Integrating the core quality of the subject into every link of teaching to achieve the goal of combining “intellectual education” with “moral education”,and to explore new ideas for the teaching of continuation writing in order to promote the development of the teaching.There are two questions to be answered in this paper:1.How to integrate core literacy into the teaching of continuation writing teaching?2.Can the integration of core literacy with continuation writing raise students’ score in the correspondent part?9 English teachers and 80 students from two classes of Changning No.1 High School were selected to carry out the teaching practice research.Class 10 applied the old-fashioned writing teaching method,Class 11 utilized the teaching method which unified with the core literacy.The findings of the research showed that the teaching method of continuation writing based on the core literacy can efficiently raise the students’ continuation writing achievement.
