Research On Cheng Zhaocai's Pingju Play

Cheng Zhaocai,known as the "father of Pingju",was born in Luannan,Hebei Province.During his lifetime,he made great contributions to the prosperity and development of Pingju.He created many popular works and characters,such as The Complaint of Yang Sanjie,and The Horse Widow Shop,which was adopted by the crosstalk quyi culture.Cheng Zhaocai’s works are deeply rooted in the rural areas of eastern Hebei province,with the simplicity of blood ties with the people.The works contain the characteristics of local customs,time-effectiveness and his own peasant aesthetic views.The content of the play comes from Cheng Zhaocai’s long-term accumulation of life and his life experience under the background of poor farmers.The artistic value of these works is worth exploring and studying.Starting from the creation method of Cheng Zhaocai’s drama works,this paper focuses on analyzing the textual characteristics of script creation,summarizing the laws and commonalities in script creation,and studying the literary value of Cheng Zhaocai’s drama works.This article attempts to analyze the staging of Cheng Zhaocai’s works in the "chaichu" Period,"Pingqiangbangzi" Period,and "Fengtianlaozi" Period,as well as the text content of the classic commentaries "Yang Sanjie’s Complaint" and "Flowers as Mathmaker".The whole text is divided into four chapters: the first chapter summarizes the formation and development of the commentary in the early twentieth century,and Cheng Zhaocai’s review of the creation of plays in different periods during the formation of the commentary,and lists these plays in the table.The second and third chapters summarize Cheng Zhaocai’s classic commentaries "Yang Sanjie’s Complaint" and " Flowers as Mathmaker ",respectively.Starting from the plot content,the main character image and character relationship,the analysis of the script structure,the contradiction and conflict,the stage performance and the comprehensive artistic value,etc.,the analysis and summary of the drama composition method represented by Zhaocai’s drama are summarized.The fourth chapter outlines the literary value of Cheng Zhaocai’s commentaries.Starting from the text,analyze the characteristics of rural customs and timeliness in Cheng Zhaocai’s works,as well as ideological tendencies and value propaganda.When Cheng Zhaocai created the text,he made a clever structural arrangement for the content of the script,showing the colloquial expression method and the artistic characteristics of dialect use.These are the results of Cheng Zhaocai’s long-term life feelings and rich life experiences.Cheng Zhaocai has made great contributions to the development of drama criticism,and the artistic value of his works has been recognized and appreciated by more and more practitioners.This article studies the text of Cheng Zhaocai’s script creation,sorts out Cheng Zhaocai’s life,stage performance,and text creation,summarizes and expands the existing materials,and hopes to bring certain reference and help to the creation and development of the current drama script.
