| Marlene Dumas is a very famous contemporary female artist,often known as "spiritual expressionist".In her works,rough lines are used to depict a distorted state of life presented by the human body.With this strong and concise color,she describes her views on the real society and human survival state to the viewer as a female,showing the emerging concept of "judging ugliness",breaking through the traditional painting form.Her works show the characteristics of metaphor.Her works have triggered a series of questions about race,gender In order to deeply understand the connotation of metaphorical features in Dumas’ s works.Therefore,I choose to start from the aspect of metaphor,take Dumas’ s painting as the basis,combined with relevant theories such as metaphor and sociology,to explore the metaphorical characteristics in Marlene Dumas’ s paintings.This paper discusses it from four aspects.The first is to discuss the main theories of metaphor,from the definition of metaphor,historical development,the causes of metaphor in painting and list several Western painters to analyze the metaphorical phenomena in their works.The second part is about Ma Lin.Dumas’ life experience,origin of artistic creation,how to create art under the influence of traditional South African culture and the metaphorical expression of artistic language in Dumas’ works.In the third part,the realistic metaphors in Dumas’ paintings are analyzed from the themes of women,children,race,violence and death.As a female artist,Dumas’ s depiction of these themes has unique artistic expression.The last part is to summarize the inspiration and influence of Dumas’ painting art,mainly from dumas’ painting,the influence of Dumas’ painting metaphor expression and its influence on contemporary Chinese painting.Through the analysis of characteristics of dumas painting metaphor,not only can let us understand deeper meaning behind the dumas product,but also can capture the metaphor unique expression in art,contemporary society to the attention of a painter is not only sensitive events in society,but from the perspective of women’s own thinking and to explore the causes of social phenomena,At the same time,it reminds the author that good works of art should not only show the painting language,but also arouse social resonance,so that the creation of more distinctive personality and characteristics of The Times. |
