| The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011)requires teaching to take full account of all students’ individual differences.Teachers make teaching methods,teaching content and teaching evaluation be flexible and diverse,and strive to make every student learn something.This guiding ideology is highly compatible with multiple intelligences theory,which believes that people have at least eight kinds of intelligences,and each kind of intelligence has different forms of strength and weakness in different individuals.Therefore,teachers are supposed to respect the individual differences of students,use superior intelligences to stimulate their interest in learning,and improve classroom teaching effects.Under the guidance of MIT,this study is based on the English reading teaching of the No.1 Junior Middle School in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone.Two classes,class A and B,with similar scores in English reading,are selected,with one as the experimental class and the other as the control class.Through the analysis of the distribution of students’ multiple intelligences and the basic situation of English reading in experimental class,we combine the eighth grade English textbook(Go for it)of the People’s Education Press with the classroom teaching standards of the MIT to try make the junior middle school English reading teaching design that meets the teaching goals and students’ learning needs and carry out corresponding classroom teaching practice to answer the following three questions:1)According to the distribution of students’ intelligences,the feasibility of using MIT to guide junior middle school English reading teaching under the premise of class teaching system will be discussed,and how to design and implement it?2)Can junior middle school English reading teaching based on MIT enhance students’ reading interest,change reading attitudes and optimize reading strategies?3)Can junior middle school English reading teaching based on MIT improve students’ reading performance?The research finds that English reading teaching in junior middle school based on MIT arouses students’ interest in reading,changes their reading attitudes,optimizes their learning strategies,and improves their English reading performance to a certain extent.The research is a beneficial attempt to teach English reading and it has certain inspiration for the current classroom teaching of English reading in junior middle schools.However,due to the limitations of various factors such as time and sample size,the research still has certain limitations to be solved in the future. |
