Study On Yao Yi And His Poetry Collection Named Yuchunxuan

Yao Yi is a Taihe poet from Jiangxi province who lived during the Qianlong period,and he had a poetry anthology named Yuchun Xuan.Yao Yi was born from a poor family and succeeded in the imperial examinations,which made him become a capital officials.He has been an official for more than 20 years and had an honest style.He cared for students,acted well,appreciated by his superiors and was supported by local students.In terms of literary achievements,Yao Yi’s poetry has both knowledge and temperament.His poems were influenced by the popular style of study during the Qianlong period,showing an unique feature of knowledge.At the same time,he recorded his life experience,joys and sorrows with his poems,in which showed different artistic characteristics.This paper takes Yao Yi’s only collection of poems,Poetry Collection of Yuchun Xuan,as the research object.In addition to the introduction,conclusion and appendix,this paper mainly analyzes Yao Yi’s poems from the following aspects:The first chapter is about Yao Yi’s family life.This chapter mainly wrote based on some ancient books such as County Annals of Ji’an,Taihe and Hunan,along with Wan Qing Yi Shi Hui and Compilation of Qing Dynasty Poems and Poems,etc.The paper try to collect many type of material about Yao Yi,such as biography,family information,official resume and other details of his work.Based on these information,we can retrospect the brilliant history of Yao Yi’s hometown and his family,therefore,analyse all his life and character,which may influenced his literary creation.The second chapter is mainly about Yao Yi’s social relations.According to the relationship between the characters and Yao Yi,these characters are divided into four categories: teachers and predecessors,colleagues and friends,Zhu Di poetry group and his juniors.This chapter try to explore their communication with Yao Yi and their poetic exchanges.In general,Yao Yi has recorded the most poems with his teachers and predecessors,including Wang Mingcong,Weng Fanggang,Peng Yuanrui and Luo Xianchun.These people either have taught Yao Yi,or provided assistance and guidance,which also influenced Yao Yi’s poetry creation to some extent.Yao Yi and his colleagues were mostly close friends.They not only worked with Yao Yi,but also shared their poetry.Yao Yi played and gathered and exchanged poems with them,which brought much spiritual pleasure to Yao Yi.Zhu Di poetry group mainly refers to the descendants of Emperor Qianlong,such as the 11 th son Yongnie,the sixth son Yongrong.When Yao Yi was working in Han Lin,he had close contact with them,and had some elegant style poetry.From the communication between Yao Yi and Zhu Di poetry group,we may infer the reason of Yao Yi’s poetry style change.The communication between Yao Yi and his junior friends mainly reflects the friendship between Yao Yi and his students from the side,which shows Yao Yi’s sincere love for his students.The third chapter try to analyse different subject matter of Yao Yi’s poetry.First of all,according to Yao Yi’s life course,his poetry creation can be divided into three stages and six types of poetry themes.According to the data analysis of the subject matter distribution and overall characteristics of the three stages of Yao Yi’s poetry creation,we may conclude that during Yao Yi’s youth times,his poems have rich themes,mainly focusing on the description of natural landscape,and the poetry style made readers feel easy and fresh.In the stage of being an official at the local level,the subject matter of Yao Yi’ poetry become diverse again,but its style tends to be plain and old,and the rational thinking in the poem increased.Secondly,the poetry creation of Yao Yi can be classified and analyzed according to six types of themes,including JIXing Ji You poems,Yong Wu poems,Yong Shi Huai Gu poems,Zeng Bie Chou Chang poems and Shu Qing Qian Huai poems,from which can we analyse the specific characteristics of various kinds of poetry themes.The fourth chapter is about artistic characteristics of Yao Yi’s poetry.In terms of genre,Yao Yi’s poetry has rich genre,his ancient poetry is especially praised by contemporaries.Yao Yi’s ancient poems are long,Wan Qing Yi Shi Hui commented that:“Xue Men’s poetry is bold and unconstrained,with long length,makes people feel like reading a big river.” The style of his ancient poems is free and wanton,full of intricacy。Yao Yi also wrote many good modern-style poems,which is relatively implicit,and their style tend to be plain and natural.In addition,Yao Yi’s poetry creation is influenced by the Sinology style of Qian Jia,and pays more attention to the application of learning,which is embodied in the prose poem,express knowledge with poem and knowledge comparison.In terms of artistic techniques,Yao Yi is good at capturing details to express deep emotions,good at using allusions to concentrate poetry’ meaning,and adept at using metaphors to enhance the image of poetry.In addition,at the end of the article,there is a list of information about the other poets,from which we can deduce the general situation of Yao Yi’s social relationship.
