In the process of international Chinese education,we found that although learners at the middle and advanced level have mastered enough vocabulary and grammar, they often have problems of coherence when they express in paragraphs.Through the analysis of the corpus of 102 compositions of English speakers at middle and advanced stages from the HSK dynamic corpus, this paper studies the use of third person pronoun deixis in their texts, analyzing the acquisition of deixis of third-person pronouns in modern Chinese texts of learners at middle and advanced stages, and explores the reasons that cause errors. The conclusions of this paper are not only enlightening to the related research on linguistic ontology and second language acquisition, but also helpful to international Chinese education and multilingual translation.According to the analysis and statistics of 535 cases involving deixis of third-person pronouns,we have reached the following conclusions:(1)Among the102 Chinese texts by middle and advanced English native speakers, the number of the correct cases is 423,and the accuracy rate is 79.1%;the number of the errors is 112,the error rate is 20.9%.The third-person pronoun deixis is the most incorrect expression when it is used directly as the subject, accounting for 48.2%.(2)The number of the first error type(the unnecessary use of third-person pronouns deixis)is80,accounting for 71.4%;the number of the second error type(the misuse of third-person pronouns deixis when referring to other personal pronouns)is 31,accounting for 27.6%.(3)The reasons of the errors can be divided into two categories:internal factors and external factors.Internal factors include negative transfer of native language, inadequate acquisition of target language rules, and inappropriate learning strategies.External factors include deficiencies in teaching materials and deficiencies in teaching.
