Study On The Distribution Network Of Xinhua Bookstore In Shanxi-Chahaer-Hebei Anti-Japanese Base Area

During China’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression,the CPC established the Shanxi-Chahaer-Hebei Branch of Xinhua Bookstore as the complement to the existing Distribution Department of Shanxi-Chahaer-Hebei Daily Newspaper Agency in order to adapt to the changes in the revolutionary situation and alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand,implementing an integrated operating mode comprised of bookstores and newspaper agencies.During the entire War of Resistance against the Japanese Aggression,the Shanxi-Chahaer-Hebei Branch of Xinhua Bookstore adopted measures such as deploying a wide range of branch institutions,building circulation routes for books and newspapers and expanding the distribution team in spite of the imminent threat of "mopping-up attacks" from Japanese troops and puppet troops.This historical process was accompanied by the concurrence of construction,adaptation and operation that eventually led to a flexible book and newspaper distribution network covering the border region and beyond.The establishment and operation of the Xinhua Bookstore distribution network not only substantially relieved the contradiction between the supply and demand of books and newspapers within the revolutionary base area but also successfully distributed books and newspapers to a large number of readers beyond the base.In this process,the bookstore distribution network also spread the discourse,ideas and advocates of the CPC to the base and beyond,playing a significant role in facilitating the CPC’s revolutionary mobilization and launching public opinion campaigns against the enemy.In addition,the bookstore distribution network also laid a foundation for the distribution work of Xinhua Bookstore in the Shanxi-Chahaer-Hebei border region during the Liberation War Period and still has implications for Xinhua Bookstore even today.
