A Study On Chen Hengzhe’s World History Ideas

Chen Hengzhe(1890-1976)is one of the representatives of female intellectuals in the Republic of China,and has many "first" reputations.She is the first female master’s degree,the first female professor,one of the first batch of female students government-sponsored for oversea education,the first female scholar of vernacular Chinese in the history of modern literature,and the only female author of a history textbook in the Republic of China.It was mainly active in the early and middle period of the Republic of China.At this time,China’s society was turbulent and its culture was pluralistic.In such a period of social transformation,Chen Hengzhe took the initiative to assume her social responsibility as an intellectual,and carried out research and writing of world history with an objective attitude towards history and a diversified methods of writing history.She published many historical works,using pen as the medium,expressing her concern about social life,the future of the country and the progress of world civilization.Under the influence of her time and family,she chose to engage in world history research and writing during her learning and growth process,Western History is the most representative achievement of her world history writing,and is the concentrated embodiment of her world history thought.The article starts from the background of Chen Hengzhe’s growth and the prototype of her world historical thought,the development and practice of Chen Hengzhe’s world history ideas,the connotation and characteristics of Chen Hengzhe’s world history ideas,and the contribution and value of Chen Hengzhe’s methodology on world history,consciously guided by the historical materialism,this paper will comprehensively and objectively study Chen Hengzhe’s world history thought.The full text be divided into three parts:the introduction,four chapters and the conclusion.The introduction part briefly explains the significance of the topic selection and the current research about this topic,and summarizes the specific contents,difficulties and innovations of the paper.The first chapter of the text takes the historical background of Chen Hengzhe’s era as the starting point,and analyzes the influential conditions for the preliminary formation of Chen Hengzhe’s world history thought by reviewing her growth experience and study abroad life.The second chapter explores the development process and concrete practice of Chen Hengzhe’s world history ideas from two aspects of her interpersonal communication and academic practice activities,current events and historical interpretation.On the basis of combing the development of Chen Hengzhe’s world history ideas in the first two chapters,the third chapter discusses the connotations and characteristics of Chen Hengzhe’s world history thought through the reflection and analysis of Chen Hengzhe’s historical works.The fourth chapter summarizes the contributions and value of Chen Hengzhe’s methodology on world history from four aspects:the expand and innovate of teaching and research thought,the objective attitude of history research,the emphasis on the practical function of history and the practice of historiography methods.
