The history of figure seals runs long and deep,with Buddha statue seals forming a prominent part of this tradition.Originating in the ancient Buddhist culture and grotto statue art of China,Buddha statue seals did not emerge in engraving art until the Qing Dynasty.Since the Lai Chusheng,the art of Buddha statue seal cutting has gradually flourished.However,the introduction of such seals paved the way for a flourishing industry that has continued to evolve over time,thanks to the continuous innovation and exploration seen in modern engraving art creation.Today,Buddha statue seals come in a range of styles and exhibit a colorful,vibrant aesthetic.In this article,we will discuss the creation of Buddha statue seal from three aspects.Firstly,a brief analysis of the surface expression forms of contemporary Buddha statue seal will be provided to demonstrate the inspiration it has brought to the author.Secondly,we will elucidate the creative process which includes carving,composition,seal inscription and the final display form.The composition of Buddha statue seal will be explored from a composition perspective.Finally,we will analyze the insights and reflections during the creative process to further develop the Buddha statue seal.Hopefully,this article can offer new ideas and inspire creativity in the creation of Buddha statue seal.
