On The Development Of Ernst Bloch S Utopian Thought

This paper aims to sort out the development process of Bloch’s utopian philosophy,mainly based on two works,The Spirit of Utopia and the Principle of Hope.Bloch’s utopian philosophy is closely linked with his life experience.The exploitation and oppression in his childhood living environment,the destruction of people’s spirit after the outbreak of the First World War,and the tragic experience in exile prompted him to have a strong yearning for a better life in the future,helping people to explore a road of "hope".In this process,His utopian thought was constantly developed and perfected.Bloch’s utopian philosophy is embodied in two works,The Utopian Spirit and the Principle of Hope.In the Utopian Spirit,he emphasizes the awakening of the Utopian spirit.The reason for the lack of utopian spirit lies in the lack of spiritual transcendental dimension,the loss of the ability to criticize the real world,and the separation of the past,present and future.The awakening of the utopian spirit requires the joint action of internal and external roads to achieve the transformation of internal and external roads,that is,to explore the self and connect with the outside world.The utopian spirit embodied in the Principles of Hope is greatly enriched and developed.The famous conclusion of "concrete utopia" is put forward,in which a beautiful blueprint of a society free from exploitation andoppression is presupposed.Such "hope" is not a bubble that bursts at the first touch,nor is it a castle in the air,but full of concrete practice of striving for the ideal.In these two works,we can feel the development and change of Bloch’s utopian thought: he abandoned the utopian elements,paid more attention to the realistic possibility,and finally realized the unity of social revolution and soul revolution.Through sorting out the development process of Bloch’s utopian thought,it can still bring us a lot of thinking,which has important enlightenment significance for today’s society.Bloch’s utopian philosophy calls on people to pay attention to the power of spirit,awaken people’s expectations for a better life,make people pay more attention to themselves,and achieve self-facing through the pursuit of self-existence,so as to constantly improve and shape themselves.As the subject of utopia,people are also constantly exerting their subjective initiative to transform the objective world and promote the development and progress of society.The process of awakening the utopian spirit in human heart also inspires us to be conscious as the subject of history creation,to promote the development and progress of history through the connection between ourselves and the outside world,and to grasp every present that will become history,to draw a blueprint for the future society.
