Impacted by the upsurge of global radio development, and thanks to the talent preparation accumulated by the local telecommunications professional education, radio was introduced into China early.Compared with newspapers, which were still in the ascendancy at that time, radio broadcast had the advantages of high timeliness,no typography and low educational level of the audience. However, due to imperfect infrastructure, lack of radio equipment, domestic political turmoil and other reasons, radio broadcasting in modern China has not been able to be popularized on a large scale like developed countries such as Europe and America, nor has a large broadcasting group been formed, and has existed as a niche media for a long time. Therefore, the new media, radio broadcasting, did not replace newspaper during the Republic of China, but carried out multi-dimensional integration practice with newspaper. In the early days of modern China,a group of professional talents who studied abroad to learn radio became the backbone of the development of modern Chinese radio after returning home. They also published a series of articles analyzing the Chinese radio industry, which laid the foundation for the development of Chinese radio. With them as the leadership core,China’s radio and newspaper carried out the media integration from shallow to deep, and accumulated valuable experience for the development of China’s news and publicity cause. The first group of broadcasters in China, represented by Wu Baofeng, led Chinese radio and newspaper to carry out diversified and multi-dimensional media integration, covering news resources integration, talent team integration, capital integration, organizational structure integration, technology integration, business operation mode integration and many other aspects. The positive media convergence brought the effect of interweaving advantages and disadvantages to the development of the radio industry in the Republic of China:on the one hand,it actively promoted the development of the weak radio industry;on the other hand,it hindered the development potential of the radio industry. In addition, the deep integration between radio and newspaper also brought fruitful results for the public opinion propaganda war, which was a great victory for the whole nation in the Anti-Japanese War.It is not difficult to summarize the current practical experience of media convergence to find that in the process of convergence, each industrial chain is gradually developing from the vertical industrial structure and technology structure path to the horizontal aggregation path.In this process, all the media involved in the integration take eliminating the boundary between each other’s industrial structure and technological structure as the premise of integration. There are many similarities between the exploration of media fusion between radio and newspaper in modern China and the development process of media fusion today. Moreover, there are still many structural contradictions in today’s media convergence. This study takes the media fusion of radio and newspaper as the main object of investigation, and starts from three aspects:the relationship before fusion, the process and main characteristics of media fusion, and the influence of media fusion on China’s radio industry and the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. It is found that the integrated development of modern Chinese broadcast newspapers provides us with a solution to the contradiction between the traditional vertical industry structure of the media and the horizontal hierarchical industry structure. That is to say,in dealing with the coexistence of old and new media,it is not necessary to create a new regulation mode for old media, but to comply with the requirements of market competition.Market-led incubation of new media and traditional media development regulations. In addition, the practical experience of the integration of radio and newspaper in propaganda war in modern China is also worth analyzing and learning from. |
