A Research On The Reform Of Newspaper Photography Department Under The Background Of Media Convergence

The internet technology and new media technology are developing at a faster speed,and news photography has been impacted to some extent.:In order to save costs or reform the organizational structure,some newspapers cut out the photography department,cut off photographers or merged them into the writing department,making the position of photographers increasingly obscure.Against this background,what is the status of the photography department? What role do they play in media convergence? How have they changed? Those are all worth paying attention to.Taking the photography department as the research entry point,this paper selects three influential newspapers in Hubei: Hubei daily,Chutian Metropolis Daily and Changjiang Daily,and conducts research and analysis by means of literature research,field investigation and text analysis.The study found that during the media convergence period,three newspapers in hubei reshaped the central newsroom to realize the sharing of resources within the organization.On this basis,the photography department cooperates with other departments to share news clues and innovate news reports.In order to meet the requirements of the overall environment of the media industry,the photography department pays attention to enriching the forms of news presentation and tries video,live broadcast and VR.At the same time,it actively uses advanced photographic equipment and post-production technology to change the traditional way of shooting and adopts aerial photography,panorama and other means in specific projects.In terms of news content creation,the photography department of the three newspapers pursues high-quality news pictures,and creates high-level photography special issue with local characteristics;and in order to ensure the quality of pictures,the three newspapersreformed the original performance assessment standards and added multiple assessment standards for pictures and video reports.At the same time,adhere to the principle of "separation of editorial operations",focus on news shooting and planning.However,in the process of integration and transformation,the photography departments of the three newspapers all have some obstacles and difficulties,such as unclear development positioning,lack of professional talents,and insufficient commercial value awareness of pictures.On the whole,in order to adapt to media convergence,the photography departments of the three newspapers in Hubei have integrated their own resources and tried to make changes.However,as three influential newspapers in the central region,the integration measures of the photography department are not prominent enough in the whole country,and the orientation of reform is not clear enough.It is only in the stage of "following the crowd",and its own uniqueness is not obvious.Those also reflect a most of the current situation of traditional media,worthy of reflection.
