The Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti played an important role in the development of opera during the Romantic period in the 19 th century. He created a large number of operas with a unique style in his creative career. This article, through the study of the soprano aria Quel guardo in Don Pasquale, starts with the two aspects of singing and teaching, and deeply analyzes this classic work. This article is divided into three chapters. The first chapter analyzes Donizetti’s character introduction, opera creation characteristics, and background. The author concludes that the composer’s creation characteristics are inseparable from the background of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution. The second chapter combines the author’s singing and practice and discusses the first aria Quel guardo after the heroine Norina appeared on the stage, from the aspects of breath, language, coloratura, and emotion.Donizetti is good at using creative coloratura techniques to express the character’s changeable character. For example,in the opera on Pasquale,he created a vivid and changeable image of the heroine Norina. The last chapter summarizes and analyzes the skills and methods in vocal music training, the training points of coloratura skills, and the value of teaching vocal music.Hope to provide a more valuable reference for the singers and learners of Donizetti’s aria Quel guardo.
