Reading is an effective way to acquire information and an important process for students to construct meaning actively through reading materials.Therefore,English reading teaching occupies an important position in English teaching.Traditional English teaching about reading in primary school is mostly teacher-centered,and students’ main body status is ignored,which leads to students’ weak reading ability and low interest in reading.The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)puts forward the following requirements on the content of second-level language skills: Understand the discourse of common topics with the help of pictures and images,extract,sort out and summarize the main information;Summarize the occurrence,development and outcome of story discourse;Compare the similarities and differences between characters,things or ideas in a text.This requires teachers to pay attention to the cultivation of students’ ability to extract,compare and summarize the details of the text in the process of English reading teaching.Students can learn to extract key words,retell the content of discourse and compare the differences between things through the knowledge visualization tools,which coincides with the requirements of the new curriculum standards.In the English reading class of senior primary schools,the application of knowledge visualization tools can help students carry out positive meaning construction and reduce the difficulty of understanding reading materials.It can be seen that the application of knowledge visualization tools is of great significance to the teaching of English reading in senior primary schools.Considering that the thinking mode of senior primary school students is developing from concrete image thinking to abstract logical thinking,it is feasible for knowledge visualization tools to enter the English reading teaching of senior primary school students.Based on the constructivism theory,the double coding theory and the information processing theory,and combined with the guiding principles of English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition),this study took the English reading teaching of senior primary school students as the research entry point,and conducted a 3-month teaching experiment in a primary school of a county.In this experiment,students from two parallel classes of grade six are selected as the research objects,which are respectively set as the control class and the experimental class.The experimental class uses knowledge visualization tools in reading teaching,while the control class adopts the traditional reading teaching method mainly based on teacher explanation.The objective is to explore the application effect of knowledge visualization tools in English reading teaching in senior primary schools.Through comparison and analysis,the following problems are mainly solved:(1)How about the application of knowledge visualization tools in English reading teaching in senior primary schools?(2)Whether the application of knowledge visualization tools in English reading teaching in senior primary schools can improve students’ reading ability?(3)Whether the application of knowledge visualization tools in English reading teaching in senior primary schools can improve students’ interest in English reading?The results show that:(1)The utilization rate of knowledge visualization tools in English reading teaching of senior primary schools is not high.(2)The application of knowledge visualization tools in English reading teaching in senior primary schools can improve students’ reading ability.(3)The application of knowledge visualization tools in English reading teaching in senior primary schools can improve students’ interest in English reading.In this study,knowledge visualization tools are used in the English reading teaching of senior primary school students,demonstrating the positive significance of the application of knowledge visualization tools in the English reading teaching of senior primary school students,improve students’ interest in English reading,and play a guiding role in the English reading teaching of senior primary school students.Based on the experimental results,this paper puts forward several suggestions for English reading teaching in senior primary schools: first,deepen teachers’ learning of knowledge visualization tools and enrich the presentation of reading materials;Second,optimize the application steps of knowledge visualization tools to improve the quality of English reading lessons;The third is to create and evaluate knowledge visualization tools according to the group cooperation of reading materials,and establish a student-centered teaching environment;Fourth,we should strive for the support of education departments and schools and strengthen the application of knowledge visualization tools.
