In recent years,human society has stepped into the information age of knowledge explosion.Meanwhile,the core concept of the new curriculum and the New Curriculum Standard all put forward higher requirements for students' reading ability.In this context,how to improve the quality of English reading class in order to meet the new requirements has been the focus of language teachers and researchers.This study attempts to explore the application of knowledge visualization tools in junior high school English reading class so as to enhance students' reading level and help students develop good reading habits.In this study,knowledge visualization tools are applied to junior high school English reading class through experimental teaching with the purpose of exploring the effectiveness of the tools in English reading class.Besides,this study attempts to answer the following questions:(1)Compared with the traditional reading teaching method,can the reading teaching method using knowledge visualization tools improve the junior high school students' English reading level more effectively?(2)Compared with the traditional reading teaching method,can the reading teaching method using knowledge visualization tools improve the junior high school students' English reading habits?Through literature research,this paper first defines the core concepts of knowledge visualization and knowledge visualization tools,and then reviews and summarizes the research status and level of knowledge visualization tools in foreign language teaching at home and abroad.Secondly,through the combination of questionnaires and interviews,the author makes an investigation and analysis of junior high school students' English reading habits and investigates students' reading level through a pre-test of English reading proficiency level.After that,the experimental class is selected to conduct an experimental study of English reading teaching under the guidance of knowledge visualization tools.After the experiment,a post-test of English reading proficiency level and questionnaire survey are carried out to test the changes of students' reading level and reading habits.The relevant data before and after the experiment shows that English reading level from the experimental class has been improved,and the overall English reading habits have also got better.Through data collection and comparative analysis,it is confirmed thatthe teaching mode guided by knowledge visualization tools is better than the traditional teaching method.Based on the findings of empirical research and theoretical basis,the author gets the following enlightenment on English daily teaching:(1)knowledge visualization tools can help teachers build a framework for understanding English discourse.(2)Knowledge visualization tools can help students effectively improve their reading comprehension level.(3)Knowledge visualization tools can help students form good reading habits.This paper hopes to provide some ideas and ways for junior high school English teachers to improve the effect and efficiency of classroom reading teaching.
