With a long history,Celtic culture is an essential source of British and even European literature and culture.And we can learn about it by reading Celtic literature.Celtic Fairy Tales,collected and edited by Joseph Jacobs,is an excellent representative of Celtic literature and is a literary book for children.This report focuses on the Chinese translation of Celtic Fairy Tales(chapters 1-9).Given the text characteristics,the author translated this book and analyzed the translation under the guidance of reception aesthetics.By analyzing many cases,this report concludes the ways of reproducing the features of language and content of children’s literature in translation.In terms of reproducing the interest of children’s language,the author discusses specific translation strategies both at the lexical level and syntactic level.At the lexical level,this report discusses the use of reduplicated words and verbs addition.At the syntactic level,reorganization,division,rhetorical devices,and rhyme can also be the way to enrich the language.In terms of reproducing the educational content of children’s literature,the translation needs to pay attention to the didactic nature of the text from the aspect of the cultivating of good and evil roles,humour,and cultural elements.This translation explores the general rules of children’s literature translation to promote cultural exchanges between China and the West,which is expected to help Chinese children understand more about Celtic culture and provide certain references for similar text translations. |
