In recent years, research on simultaneous interpreting have yielded fruitful results in both theoretical construction and empirical exploration, and Schema Theory has also gained popularity in simultaneous interpreting research.Schema Theory could guide the interpreter to form language schema, content schema and formal schema during pre-interpreting preparation process, which could enhance the interpreter’s ability to accurately understand and interpret terminologies, improve the interpreter’s ability to quickly comprehend and predict the source texts, and optimize the structure and expressions of the target texts to align with the contexts of the interpreting activities. This thesis presents a report on the author’s experience as a simultaneous interpreter during the 19th China-Japan International Academic Symposium of Ningxia University and Shimane University held on April 28th,2022,and analyzes the interpretation according to language schema, content schema and formal schema guided by Schema Theory. This report contains five parts:task description, task process, theoretical framework, case analysis and conclusion. The second chapter and the fourth chapter as the major parts in this report analyze the process the interpreter prepared language schema, content schema and formal schema, and highlight the critical role of Schema Theory in guiding the interpretation via case analysis. The results indicate that Schema Theory could enhance the interpreter’s comprehension, memory, and expression ability in simultaneous interpretation, which demonstrates the effectiveness of Schema Theory in guiding simultaneous interpreters. |
