An Investigation Of The Effect Of Emotional Intelligence On Job Performance Of Knowledge Employees:Based On The Mediating Role Of Burnout And The Moderating Role Of Zhongyong Thinking | Posted on:2024-01-04 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:Y Zhang | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2555306941499564 | Subject:Applied Psychology | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Emotional Intelligence(EI),as a topic that is inevitable for modern people,frequently shows up in the public while more and more people have noticed its close relation with their personal life,its key role in their individual career success and its direct influence on their individual work performance level.As knowledge-based employees are the group that mainly plays the function of creation in the enterprise staff,improving the work performance of knowledge-based employees can extensively boost the entire corporate performance,hence making the study on the relation between their EI and work performance more significant.Previous studies have shown that EI manages to positively forecast the work performance of employees.However,the internal mechanism in the relation between the two remains implicit.In this regard,the two variables,that is,Burnout and Zhongyong thinking style(Doctrine of the Mean)are introduced in this thesis to probe into the influences of Intelligence on work performance as well as the inclusive mechanism.In this study,applying the convenient sampling method,the Emotional Intelligence Scale,Work Performance Scale,Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey and Zhongyong Thinking Style Scale are utilized to carry out the questionnaire survey on the 450 knowledgebased employees in Harbin,with conclusions drawn as follows.(1)The EI,work performance,burnout and Zhongyong thinking of knowledge-based employees show significant differences in some demographic variables(gender,age,education,y ears of working,and position).(2)The EI,work performance and Zhongyong thinking of knowledge-based employees present a significant negative correlation with burnout,EI shows a significant positive correlation with Zhongyong thinking and work performance,and Zhongyong thinking and work performance are significantly positively correlated.(3)The burnout of knowledge-based employees partially plays a intermediary role in EI and work performance.(4)The Zhongyong thinking of knowledge-based employees can negatively regulate the negative relations between EI and burnout.The research results here have revealed that EI can not only boost the work performance of knowledge-based employees in a direct manner,but also promote it by reducing burnout levels.In addition,the level of Zhongyong thinking of knowledge-based employees manages to significantly modulate the negative relationship between EI and burnout,which is specifically presented as that for knowledge-based employees with low Zhongyong thinking level,EI fails to significantly predict burnout while for knowledge-based employees with high level of Zhongyong thinking,EI can significantly negatively predict burnout.The results obtained in this study are conducive to perfecting the methods of knowledge-based employees for work.Therefore,strengthening the training on EI at work,dealing with work matters in the direction of diversity,and enhancing the level of Zhongyong thinking are beneficial to improve employees’ work performance,thus laying the foundation for career promotion and find a suitable career development path to their own. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Emotional intelligence, Work performance, Burnout, Zhongyong thinking style, Knowledge-based employee | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
