| This is a project report on E-C translation of two chapters selected from AI and the Future of Banking, which addresses the topics of banking and its digital transformation, the impact of AI and advanced analytics on banking, and the future of banking itself. The selected chapters provide an insight into the meaning and evolution of money, main functions of banks, and current and future imperatives within the banking industry. The source text is a Fintech English text, with features of both financial English and EST(the abbreviation of English for science and technology).Under the guidance of Steiner’s Hermeneutic Motion, this translation project is set to discuss the translation of this type of text from both lexical and syntactic levels.Translation techniques including interpretive translation,annotation,word-by-word translation, zero translation, and choice of word are applied to deal with difficulties at lexical level;amplification, omission, repetition, and conversion are used at syntactic level to consider sentences with parallel structures.By applying these translation techniques, the translator aims to explore the feasibility of the Hermeneutic Motion for guiding the translation of Fintech English texts. |
