| Nowadays,economic and social development is changing rapidly,science and technology is also advancing by leaps and bounds.Technology has a profound impact on the economic and technological development of every country,and artificial intelligence technology has become more and more widespread and common.In order to make artificial intelligence technology better applied in the field of science and technology and promote exchanges and cooperation between countries,it is extremely important to accurately translate such texts.In this translation report,the excerpts from Part Ⅱ of Artificial Intelligence:A Guide for Thinking Humans are selected for translation.Based on Text Type Theory,and combined with the characteristics of scientific and technological texts,the feasibility of Text Type Theory in scientific and technological text translation is demonstrated.According to the Text Type Theory,scientific and technological text belongs to informative text,which focuses on content and is mainly used to convey information and reflect objective facts.Its language is impersonal.In translation,the principle of "authenticity first" should be achieved,and the ideological content of the source text should be fully expressed without rigidly adhering to the language of the source text,so as to achieve a faithful,accurate,smooth and standardized target text.Therefore,in the case study of Chapter Four,the translator of this study always follows the principle of "authenticity first" and adopts a series of translation techniques to ensure the faithfulness of the target text and the accuracy of the information,so that the target readers can obtain the same information as the original readers.In the whole process of translation,at the lexical level,the translator adopts literal translation,transliteration with interpretation,zero translation and other methods to realize the correct expression of professional terms and the effective transmission of objective content;at the syntactic level,due to the huge differences in the logical order and sentence structure characteristics between English and Chinese,the translator adopts translation techniques such as division,transformation and repetition to achieve the principle of "authenticity first";at the textual level,the translator adopts the methods of linear translation,inverse translation and synthesis to make the text more coherent,so that the target readers can obtain the same reading effect as the source readers while accurately conveying the information of the source text.Through this translation report,the translator hopes to expand the feasibility of the Text Type Theory in the translation of scientific and technological texts,and summarize some translation experience,so as to provide some references for translators who study scientific and technological texts and are interested in the field of science and technology,especially artificial intelligence. |
