Taking the Confucius Institute at the University of Santo Tomas in Chile as an example,this paper discusses the application of thematic teaching in online elementary Chinese oral courses,and explores a teaching design based on thematic teaching theory.Through questionnaire survey and interview results,it is concluded that thematic teaching can conclusions on improving students’ Chinese communicative competence.The first chapter of this paper mainly explains the origin and significance of the topic selection,summarizes the research status of thematic teaching at home and abroad,and introduces the research method of this paper.The second chapter focuses on the application background of online oral language teaching activities,including an overview of the Confucius Institute at the University of Santo Tomas in Chile,an introduction to the functions of the Zoom platform,and a feasibility analysis for this activity.The third chapter is the core part of the thesis.Taking the four themes of "buying clothes","zodiac signs","leisure activities" and "restaurant dining" as examples,it builds the theme framework,designs the theme-based teaching plan,and demonstrates the theme-based teaching plan.The implementation process of teaching online oral class.In the fourth chapter,the author first designs the questionnaire survey and individual interview on the effect of this teaching practice,and then sends the questionnaire to 15 students in the class through online form,and carries out individual interview.Finally,the survey results are displayed in the form of tables,pie charts and histograms,and the statistical results are summarized and analyzed.The fifth chapter summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of thematic teaching in practical applications,so as to reflect on teaching and put forward corresponding teaching suggestions.Finally,in the conclusion part,I summarize the work done in the research process and the future prospect of thematic teaching.
