With the development of the New Wave of Imaging,documentaries are gradually liberated from public attributes such as news,history,and society,and move toward a more diverse creative form,so a more individual and private image creation,or first-person documentary,has emerged.This paper will try to study the narrative structure and visual narrative style of first-person documentaries from the perspective of first-person video narrative research,combining theories of literary narrative,film narrative,and the narrative subject of documentaries.The article is divided into six parts,the introductory part introduces the background of the study,and compares the development of first-person documentary creation in China and the West and the current state of research.It briefly analyzes the theoretical foundations of classical narratology to post-classical narratology,as a consideration of the narrative form and narrative style of first-person documentary in the contemporary context.The first chapter elaborates on contemporary narratology’s transmedial narrative-like form.The generative factors of documentary narrative form are analyzed in relation to narrative subjects,specific contexts and academic development backgrounds.It also specifies the narrative morphology of first-person documentaries.The second section analyzes the narratorship and narrative voice of first-person documentaries,and also discusses the narrative types of first-person documentaries based on the narrative perspective.The third chapter focuses on the dual selves of the narrator,the subject of the narration and the audience,based on the narratological communication model.It demonstrates that first-person documentaries construct the image narrative effect of communication and dialogue.The fourth chapter section analyzes the changes in subjectification expression strategies and narrative styles of first-person documentaries in multi-media contexts.The five chapter analyzes the narrative strategies used in the practice of first-person documentaries based on the film “We are All Under the Same Sky”,which constructs narrative levels,emphasizes the narrative subject,and conveys deep narrative emotions.At the same time,the aspects of creation that need to be improved are sorted out and summarized. |
