Cultural teaching has always been one of the most noteworthy issues in the field of international Chinese language education,and the introduction of a special cultural syllabus has always been one of the demands of the academic community.Although the Framework of Reference for Chinese Culture and Society in International Chinese Language Education(hereinafter referred to as The Framework of Reference)is not a special cultural outline,its sorting and description of the teaching contents and objectives of Chinese culture and contemporary national conditions still provide a powerful reference and basis for cultural teaching,especially emphasizing cultural items related to cross-cultural competence such as "Verbal Communication".Due to the late release,there is little research on The Framework of Reference in the academic circle,and the research on teaching materials and teaching based on it is even less.In view of this,it is of great significance to combine The Framework of Reference with the existing textbooks.This paper selects the comprehensive series of textbooks "Developing Chinese",makes statistics and analysis on the cultural items of "Verbal Communication" based on The Framework of Reference,and conducts a questionnaire survey on the learners related to the cultural items of "Verbal Communication",and puts forward suggestions on textbook layout and teaching development on this basis.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction.Starting from the background and significance of the topic,it reviews and combs the previous studies,and determines the research scope,research theory,research methods and data sources.The second chapter is the statistics and analysis of the cultural points in the textbooks.This paper classifies and sorts out the cultural items of "Verbal Communication" according to The Framework of Reference and makes statistics and analysis of the cultural items in the comprehensive series of textbooks of "Developing Chinese".Based on this,some inspirations are proposed: the combination of language and culture,diversified cultural presentation methods,and the proportion of high-level cultural items increasing layer by layer;And put forward suggestions for improvement:increase the number of "Verbal Communication" cultural items,and optimize the proportion of "Verbal Communication" cultural items.The third chapter is a survey of international Chinese learners.This article uses the form of a questionnaire to investigate and analyze learners’ interest points and teaching satisfaction with cultural items such as "Verbal Communication".It is found that there are differences between the layout of teaching materials and learners’ needs,as well as problems such as learners’ weak interest in the Chinese itself,and their low emphasis on and utilization of existing teaching materials.The fourth chapter,based on the investigation and analysis of teaching materials and learners in the previous two chapters,some suggestions are proposed for the layout and teaching of cultural items related to "Verbal Communication",including balancing the number and proportion of cultural items related to "Verbal Communication",increasing the proportion of contemporary cultural items,adopting a teaching method that combines teaching and experiential types,and making full use of new media teaching media.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,which combs and summarizes the views and contents of this article and points out the shortcomings.
