Early school-age children are the mainstay of the country and are characterised by a collectivist mindset and have the self-awareness to participate in environmental protection activities under the right guidance.Therefore,our government and education authorities have been able to attach importance to the promotion and education of waste separation for primary and secondary school students and require a 100% penetration rate in all primary and secondary schools.As early school-age children have limitations in receiving and judging information,the knowledge of waste separation is too complicated and the channels of communication are relatively single,so for this group of early school-age children there is a need for interesting graphic design of waste separation categories,recycling processes and other content.This project uses literature research,case studies and questionnaires to analyse and summarise the current state of research on the design of waste separation education graphics at home and abroad.Based on the psychological and visual characteristics of early school-age children and the theoretical basis of graphic design,the research was carried out on the needs of early school-age children and their parents,and the methods and principles of graphic design for waste separation education were summarised and finally designed and applied.The aim is to teach early school-age children about waste separation through graphic design,making it more aesthetic,systematic and interesting,attracting audiences to participate and put into practice,and educating future generations to change their wasteful habits as early as possible.This project provides a reference material for waste separation education combined with the diversity,flexibility and fun of graphic design,breaking the single way of propaganda,in line with the physical and mental development of early school-age children,awakening their awareness of environmental protection and promoting a better and sustainable human living environment.
