This report is based on an on-site English-Chinese and Chinese-English interpreting practice for a business management workshop at an automobile company. The practice is completed under the guidance of the Deverbalization principle in the Interpretive theory. In this report, useful interpreting strategies have been reviewed and discussed to address challenges encountered in the interpreting practice so as to improve the quality of the target language output and better convey the speaker’s intention. The report is divided into five parts: Chapter One is the task description, which introduces the background of this interpretation task, speakers’ linguistic style and knowledge background of the target audience;Chapter Two is the description of the interpretation process, including pre-interpretation preparation,on-site interpreting and post-interpreting feedback and review;Chapter Three introduces the Interpretive theory and the triangle model, mainly explaining the Deverbalization principle used in the interpretation process. The case analysis in Chapter Four analyzes in detail three types of deverbalization, namely deverbalization of redundancies and ambiguous phrases,of sentence structure, and of logical relations.Strategies like addition, omission, division, reconstruction, etc.,are applied to ease difficulties encountered in the interpretation task;Chapter Five is a conclusion, summarizing benefits the interpreter has obtained in the interpreting practice, with a view to providing some reference significant for the writing of interpreting practice reports in similar fields.
