| The study of Dunhuang temples has become an important aspect of the study of the Buddhist social history of Dunhuang Buddhism.Puguang Temple is a nun’s temple of the 17 official temples in Dunhuang during the late Tang,Five Dynasties and the early Song.It plays an important role in the development of Dunhuang Buddhism.Using Dunhuang documents,we excavated the Buddhist connotation in the name of Dunhuang Puguang Temple,sorted out the basic information that Puguang Temple was established before 788 until after 979,and was located near the west of Shazhou,so as to realize the preliminary understanding of Dunhuang Puguang Temple.The study of the development of the Nun’s Temple also needs to focus on the monks group,which contributes to study the characteristics of the development of the number,dharma name,class structure and living conditions of the nuns and monks Puguang Temple.The number of nuns and monks Puguang Temple is relatively large and growing,among which the nuns of the ethnic group occupy an important position.Most of them are managers of the temple,promoting the development of the temple.At the same time,they live in close contact with the secular life,which restores the real situation of nuns in temples and economic life from the perspective of property disputes.Puguang Temple also participated in various activities.In Buddhist activities,Puguang Temple has a single collection of sutras,but it has participated in the sutra conversion activities of the temple for many times,and has held Fangdeng Ashram.In the temple economic activities,Dunhuang Puguang Temple has a variety of income channels,such as giving,millstone,the temple is also attached to a large number of temple households,is an important part of the temple economy.In secular activities,Puguang Temple mostly appears as a gathering place in social documents,which has a certain degree of recognition.Dunhuang Puguang Temple,as a religious activity place,has played a role in promoting the spread of Buddhism in Dunhuang. |
