Contemporary art, which rose after World War II,has replaced modern art as a new standard and a new avant-garde mark after half a century of development. As a branch of contemporary art, contemporary ceramic art has developed differently in different regions of the world. In China, due to its unique social background and cultural context, the semantic connotation and conceptual understanding of contemporary ceramic art is ambiguous in relation to that of modern ceramic art,and it has not been completely separated from the Western modernity discourse, with only temporal distinctions but no conceptual discussions. The author realizes that only when it is clear that "modernity" and "contemporaneity" express different conceptual awareness, and that contemporaneity is a reflection of modernity, can the theoretical system and practical path of contemporary ceramic art be gradually constructed. This paper begins with a problem-oriented introduction, which identifies problems in the current situation of contemporary Chinese ceramic art and leads to the above research points. Then,in the second chapter, the contemporary nature of contemporary ceramic art is re-examined by means of comparative research.By clarifying the relationship between modernity and contemporaneity,we explore the specific manifestations of the conceptual shift of contemporary ceramic art: from global discourse expansion to local practice;from the elite consciousness of modern ceramic art to civilian expression;from self-concern to social concern;from the pursuit of artistic purity to a pluralistic pattern;and by breaking down the barriers between art and other human activities to re-establish a close relationship between art and The close relationship between art and life by breaking down the barriers between art and other human activities. The third chapter discusses the practical path of contemporary ceramic art in the context of specific cases of contemporary ceramic art practice.Contemporary pottery departs from the creative paradigm and aesthetic values of modern pottery, and expands the interpretive framework of contemporary pottery by clarifying the cultural orientation of contemporary pottery through such paths as the transformation of tradition and new processes of media, intervention in society and public participation, and the reconstruction of everyday life.Chapter 4 analyzes in detail the author’s specific pottery creation practice, presenting how the conceptual nature of the medium is gradually generated in the unique process of process exploration? The conceptual structure is based on the qualities and properties of two media: mud and newspaper. The author uses different forms of newspaper as the substrate and explores the ceramic language of mud dot accumulation by repeatedly "writing" on it with mud,and the newspaper is eventually "dissolved" to form a new ceramic The newspaper is eventually "dissolved" to form a new ceramic collection. The graduation project is based on the previous work, which explores and experiments with the language of ceramic media by means of clay mesh drip molding, and then uses splicing to configure single pieces of clay into a complete "architectural" structure, with the combination of red, yellow and blue "architecture".The combination of red, yellow and blue "architecture" creates a modeled and industrialized urban architectural landscape. The timelessness and fragility of the ceramic medium are in tension with the illusion of the modern city, thus prompting individuals to reflect on their current living conditions and alienated lifestyles, linking the symbolic meanings of the medium and social culture in the process of concrete practice, while exploring the broader potential of the craft and the experimental value of the medium.
