Simplicity And Mixture

Modigliani was a very important artist in painting in the early 20 th century.During the same period,the world’s art arena was undergoing drastic changes and all schools of art began to increase their presence.The western modern art was flourishing at that time through,Modigliani did not entirely throw himself into new art movements.He learned from African sculpture nutrients and never discarded their conventional and classical elements,and assimilated the essence of various western modern arts while inheriting the traditional arts.Eventually he developed an art language with his personal feeling,and firmly considered his own unique art as his career.This paper is divided into four sectors.The author researches and analyzes Modigliani’s artistic creation methods with documentary method,observation method and inductive method.This study first elaborates the overseas and domestic research status of Modigliani,taking the analysis of Modigliani’s artistic characteristics and artistic creation methods as the main content and research purpose.The second section summarizes the forming reasons of Modigliani’s style based on the influence of traditional Italian arts in his childhood and outstanding traditional arts he had learned during his study tour;after that,the splendid artistic thoughts and statuary arts of Western fine arts had also exerted varying degrees of influence on Modigliani.The third one is the core of this paper.The author analyzes Modigliani’s artistic characteristics and artistic creation methods from the perspectives of “simplicity” and “mixture”,and then discusses the methods in his handling the relationship of the two.Through arguing the artistic styles with which the painting presents its beauty of “simplicity”,this study interprets the psychological,reality and other factors about Modigliani’s selection of them based on the subject matter;this paper also studies how Modigliani establishes his own art style with “mixture” through discussing his mixture of different schools of art,that of tradition and innovation,as well as that of different classes of art.Finally,the author explores how Modigliani balances “simplicity” and “mixture” according to the relationship between the two,and his balance and choice of elements in the paintings.The fourth one illustrates what exactly Modigliani’s artistic creation can do to offer artists illumination,as well as what influence Modigliani brings to the artistic creation of the author.Modigliani has established his unique artistic features through carrying forward traditions,taking the best of all schools,and accommodating each other.He creates one art treasure after another with “simplicity”,“mixture” or the combination of the two.In today’s art competition,it remains an important subject for painters to contemplate how to find their own position and form their unique painting languages in the surging tide of art.
