The continuous advancement of economic globalization has made the links between countries around the world increasingly close.Intercultural communicative competence is an important criterion for measuring transnational communicative talents.In 2020,the Ministry of Education of China promulgated the latest "English Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools "(2017 edition revised in 2020).The "Standard Curriculum " proposes to cultivate students’ initial awareness of intercultural communication and sensitivity to different cultural differences.High school English teaching should not only stay in the teaching of basic language knowledge,but also actively cultivate students’ intercultural communicative competence.This research takes a senior high school in Guilin as an example,and randomly selects 324 students and 4 English teachers as subjects.Based on the theory of intercultural communicative competence,this research investigates the current situation of intercultural communicative competence in high school English teaching through questionnaire survey and interview.The research questions of this paper are as follows:(1)Under the background of the promulgation of the English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School,what is the current situation of intercultural communication awareness and competence among students?(2)What are the factors that affect students’ intercultural communicative competence in high school English teaching?(3)How to cultivate the intercultural communication competence of senior high school students?According to the results of the survey,this research finds that the current level of intercultural communication awareness of high school English students is general,and their intercultural competence is weak.There are five main factors that affect senior high school students’ English intercultural communicative competence:language differences,social and cultural factors,school education factors,teacher factors,and students’ personal factors.According to the causes of the problems and the requirements of the new curriculum standard,the author puts forward the corresponding strategies.Society provides a platform for cultural interaction and actively develops multiculturalism;schools enhance the soft power of intercultural education and promote the dissemination of Chinese culture;teachers should deeply understand the connotation of cross-cultural teaching under the new curriculum standard and improve cross-cultural teaching ability.Students develop the concept of English learning from the perspective of intercultural communication.This research brings new enlightenment to the cultivation of students’ intercultural competence in high school English teaching.The countermeasures proposed to cultivate intercultural communicative competence have certain reference value and significance.Of course,there are still many shortcomings in this study.The author will continue to work hard in the future teaching practice and improve this study. |
