A Study Of Zheng Yue’s Poetry

Zheng Yue was a native of Putian in the mid-Ming dynasty.He was honest and upright,and had a bumpy official career.He wrote a great deal of poetry in his life.At present,there are only Twenty-four volumes of “Mr.Zheng Shanzhai’s collected works” and three volumes of his poetry collection,“Shan Zhai Yin Gao”.He also participated in the compilation of local documents in Putian,such as “Puyang Wen Xian” thirteen volumes,“Puyang Biographies”seventy-five volumes and so on.He was influential in the literary world of Putian in the middle of the Ming dynasty.Zheng Yue’s poetic works are very rich in content,including the poetry of the heart.the poems on object-chanting,the landscape poems,the poems on recreation and the poems on record,and so on.Most of the poem to express one’s bosom is sentimental when expressing the works,sustenance of their own life experience;The object-chanting poems are the true portrayal of one’s own image;The landscape poems record their own feelings of travel,it seems natural;The poems on recreation are mostly works of making friends with others,it looks relaxed;Chronological poetry records more things and people,its language is simple and concise.These poems involve the Jin dynasty and Wei dynasty is very beautiful and peaceful.Zheng Yue’s poetry is also good at using allusions.Zheng Yue’s prose has a large number of proses.There are several types of articles,such as prefaces,narrations,tombstones,memorials,letters and so on.There is no more embellishments in the article,and the article is good at argumentation.The preface style is concise,reflecting Zheng Yue’s individual thought;The narrative style is detailed and accurate,expressing the events and feeling immediately,and cutting to the heart of the times;The tombstone style mostly records the merits and virtues of the owner of the tombstone before his death,which can be used for filling up the history;The memorial style is to express the feeling of worrying about the country and the people;The writing style is more clear and smooth,with a strong flavor of life.His works were influenced by the Chaling School of poetry,the Former Heptacodium and the Yangming School of mind in the middle period of Ming dynasty.The Chaling school of poetry advocated “Harmony”,advocated natural expression of true feelings in poetry,and Zheng Yue’s poetry had the characteristics of smoothness,naturalness and moderate emotion.The Former Heptacodium opposed the pompous style of writing and raised the importance of practice,these thoughts are similar to those in Zheng Yue’s prose.Zheng Yue was influenced by Wang Yangming’s ideas and his poems were open-minded.Zheng Yue deeply embodies the idea of advocating morality and caring for the people and he wrote an article to make a point.His literary thought and cultural behavior had a certain influence on the local culture of Putian.
