This paper mainly focuses on the study of the five elements of yin and yang in the Mawangdui palace script. The five elements of yin and yang in A is a clerical script that retains much of the structure of the seal script form, with distinctive calligraphic art features, while B is an ancient clerical script with a strong clerical meaning, with a flying attitude and unique calligraphic features. The calligraphic features are analyzed from the perspective of calligraphic art in three aspects: brushwork, structure, and chapter style, and then the specific forms of the Five Elements of Yin and Yang A and B are compared with those of the same period in the Qin and Han dynasties. These various stages of character evolution present the unique calligraphic style of the Mawangdui scrolls. It also shows the development process from seal script to clerical script, from ancient clerical script to Han clerical script, and from clerical script to cursive script in the later period, fully demonstrating the richness of the practical handwriting style of the Qin and Han dynasties. Finally, the study and research of the Mawangdui palace script can bring new thoughts to the author’s creation of clerical script.Combining theory and practice, summarizing the creative experience in the process of copying and creation, and continuously advancing his own creative practice.
