| Film genre is a key concept born in the process of industrialization and institutionalization of film as an art form,and eventually becoming an extremely important aspect of contemporary popular culture,which is an important reference point for audiences and researchers to accurately grasp the characterization,plot direction,emotional communication and ideological core of a film(especially mainstream theatrical films whose ultimate goal is box office revenue).After a long period of self-evolution,the superhero genre has become the most industrially based,commercially valuable and culturally dispersed genre in the Hollywood film industry.However,because this genre has the entertainment nature given by the heavy industrial tradition on the one hand,and the flimsy and shallow "universal value" rhetoric due to Hollywood’s cultural tradition and ideological orientation on the other,this seemingly harmless genre has a more insidious ideology than other genres in the past.aggressive than other genres in the past.Based on this fact,this paper will take the graduation project "Illusion Man" as the base,and analyze,interpret and reflect on the superhero film genre from the basis of film genre,combining the anti-genre creation tradition with the analysis and criticism of postmodernism and ideology against the mass culture and pop culture,and explore the anti-genre creation path for the genre’s self-reinvention and the genre’s audience’s demystification.At the same time,we will explore the feasibility of the anti-genre creation path for the genre to reinvent itself and the genre’s audience to demystify it.In the introductory section,this paper will first give a brief overview of the commercial and cultural influence of the superhero genre today,point out the significance of this study,the research object and the specific methodology,and discuss the "superhero as a cultural paradigm," "film genre" and "anti-genre."The second chapter presents a brief overview of the three key concepts of this study,and shows the correlation and conflict between them.The second chapter mainly theorizes and identifies the three key concepts in this paper,compares the historical development of the superhero genre,points out the anti-genre works that deserve attention in the sequence of superhero genre works,and focuses on analyzing and summarizing the inherent structural characteristics of the genre and its ideological orientation under the cultural criticism.The third chapter is to analyze and criticize the many rigid defects and ideological hollowness of the superhero genre presented in the second chapter,and to use the anti-genre creation path and the ideological system behind it as a breakthrough into these defects,so as to provide a feasible theoretical anchor for how to appreciate,view,analyze and position the works of this genre,and then to explain the reasons and purposes of the creation of the graduation design work ".Chapter 4 focuses on the specific creation path of the graduation project "Illusion Man",and examines how the theoretical thinking is implemented in the concrete creation practice of the work,in conjunction with the theoretical analysis of the superhero genre paradigm and anti-genre creation mechanism in the previous section.This paper finds that the superhero film genre has evolved into a highly formed and refined genre structure,allowing it to become a stable genre with structural roots-the cultural paradigm of the superhero image has become a dominant force in the worldwide pop culture system that cannot be ignored.However,the possible structural tension and semiotic extension of the image itself has been affected by the commercial and cultural establishment of Hollywood in the new century,which has been constrained and constructed by the historical fact of the global expansion of neoliberalism since the 1990 s,and in the last decade has gradually revealed a negative tendency of superficialization,flattening,dissociation,and ideological instrumentalization,a tendency that is incompatible with the absolute dominance of the superhero genre in the global film market.The combination of this trend and the absolute dominance of the superhero genre in the global film market means that the ideological aggressiveness of this paradigm cannot be underestimated.As a highly secularized and contemporary capitalist myth,the most important aspect of the superhero genre that deserves attention,reflection and vigilance is the construction and dissemination of the hidden power structure and hegemonic energy.For this reason,as creators or researchers,we must respond to this imported cultural product with serious analysis and reflection in terms of both theoretical paradigms and creative means,and the anti-genre approach,as a means of resistance using deconstructionist thinking as a weapon,should play a more important role in our response to the invasion of the superhero genre. |
