A Case Study On Integrating Life Education Into English Teaching In Junior Middle School

Life education aims to help students improve the quality of life,and promote their health and positive growth.National Outline for Medium and Long-term Education Reform and Development(2010-2020)points out the important position of life education,which causes people to think more about life.Thanks to the humanistic and instrumental features of English,the integration of life education into junior school English teaching can not only strength students’ English knowledge and ability,but also promote their life attitude and awareness.However,few domestic and foreign scholars study the application of integrating life education into English.Therefore,the value of this study lies in exploring its practical influence and strategies.Based on the theoretical basis and literature review at home and abroad,this thesis defines the concept of integrating life education into English teaching,and determines the framework of case study.The study is mainly divided into three steps and further discusses the design focus,effective strategies,evaluation mechanism and influencing factors of integrating life education into junior school English teaching by using data collected from interview and classroom observation.Then,the author presents the following conclusions:(1)Junior school English teachers optimize teaching level and performance by guiding students to “live”.(2)Junior school English teachers improve teaching content and form by instructing students to “learn”.(3)Junior school English teachers promote enthusiasm and identity towards teaching by helping students to“innovate”.(4)Junior school English teachers perfect the application and ability of teaching by encouraging students to “explore”.Finally,the study suggests that junior school English teachers should actively adapt teaching materials,strengthen the use of educational resources and refine teaching objectives.As for schools,they should optimize teaching process,perfect the system of discipline integration and improve research and training system,so as to create a good platform for English teachers to integrate life education into English teaching.
