In the new period of information technology,?National medium-and long-term educational reform and development program? requests that educational informatization should be accelerated in order to promote the deep integration of information technology into instruction.And the Municipal Teaching and Research Section,which is in charge of the basic education innovation practice,is supposed to head and implement ?Deep Integration? in guiding teaching and research activities.It is necessary to study the cases,with "deep integration" as the theme,presented by the Section,since these exemplary cases are the mirror of the local educators‘ understanding and implementation of "deep integration" in middle school.Potential problems are expected to be found and constructive suggestions are to be provided by the researcher.The purpose of doing so is to deepen the integration of information technology into English instruction.Therefore,in this study,three exemplary teaching cases concerning this topic in a teaching seminar are chosen to answer the following two questions: 1)How is the deep integration of information technology into instruction(abbreviated as Deep Integration)conducted in middle school? 2)Do the exemplary cases follow the ?TLASC teaching model? for the purpose of ?Deep Integration??Observation and interview were employed as the research methods.Traces of Deep Integration were tagged after observing the videos.Distribution and effects of classroom interaction were analyzed by following the ?teacher-led and student-centered? model(TLASC)to examine the situation of strong interaction in cases.The qualitative research software Nvivo12.0 was used for data analysis.In addition to these,a semi-structured interview with one of the teachers was conducted to understand the teacher's information literacy and her understanding of "deep integration".This is to supplement the results of case analysis.The research findings show that the integration of information technology in 2 classes is well implemented in the step of content presentation.However,information technology does not work well to achieve strong interaction successfully in terms of high-level goal realization and multiple interaction stimulation.Another case is the introduction of the instructional design.In this case,teacher‘s leading role and students‘ centered position were displayed.With the aid of information technology and the teacher‘s guidance,students can search sources,widen thinking,and have balanced teacher-student interaction,student-student interaction as well as the human-tech interaction.In this way,strong interaction is realized and TLASC model is fulfilled,which is the manifestation of Deep Integration.However,the slight overuse of information technology might cause the neglect of students‘ need and the use of the traditional teaching materials.So,there is still space left for the rational and proper use of technology.The requirement of the advanced hardware environment is another problem that impedes the popular application of this design.Based on the research findings,the author made suggestions from the perspective of teachers and school administrators respectively,hoping to bring insights to the Deep Integration in middle schools.
