At present, the academic circle’s understanding of Yuan Hongdao’s Buddhist achievements is not deep enough, and the relationship between the spiritual view and Buddhist thought needs to be further promoted.Yuan Hongdao,as one of the representatives of lay Buddhism in the late Ming Dynasty, absorbed Zen,Huayan tought,Pure land sect and the Consciousness-only School within Buddhism, and absorbed Confucianism and Taoism outside Buddhism, forming an integrated and open thought of three religions in one.As the core part of Yuan Hongdao’s ideological system and the foundation of his philosophy of life,Buddhist thought not only influenced his literary strategy, but also provided ontological basis for his literary view of spirituality and related categories such as "new change","temperament","knowledge","qi","light" and "quality".Yuan Hongdao’s literary thought system with spirituality as the core takes spirituality as the noumenon,"truth" as the property, and transmitting emotion as the function, which is adapted to the interpretive structure of body and phase and function. In the process of constructing his literary thought system,Yuan Hongdao did not change the noumenon of "spirituality" and his pursuit of "truth" and "wonderful understanding".The main reason for his change is that he has a different understanding of the "true" phase, which is the result of his deeper understanding of the "spirit" under the continuous improvement of his Buddhist realm. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, the main body of the thesis is divided into four parts. The first three chapters divide Yuan Hongdao’s life into three stages.Combining with the development of ideological trend in the late Ming Dynasty, the social background,Yuan Hongdao’s life experience, the paper explains the interactive relationship between the change of his Buddhist thought and the concept of spirituality. The fourth chapter examines the unchanging core of Yuan Hongdao’s thought development, based on which it explores the overall construction of Yuan Hongdao’s literary thought and the core value of his spiritual view. The first chapter discusses the first stage of the development of Yuan Hongdao’s Buddhism and the concept of "spirit".From the 17 th year of Wanli to the twenty-sixth year of Wanli(1589-1598),the creation of "Huayan Zen" represents the maturity of Yuan Hongdao’s thought about mind.On this basis,Yuan Hongdao put forward the literary concept of "spirit" with "new and change" as the core.At the same time, under the influence of the "crazy Zen" thought in the late Ming Dynasty,Yuan Hongdao’s Buddhist thought turned into the fallacy that one enlightenment is to rest, and that one is to be virtuous. The thought of "crazy Zen" further affected Yuan Hongdao’s cognition of Buddhism, mistook the heart as the nature,so in literary creation, lust as the spirit, and emphasized the current writing of lust. The second chapter discusses the second stage of the development of Yuan Hongdao’s Buddhism and the concept of "spirit".From the 26 th year of Wanli to the29 th year of Wanli(1598-1601),Yuan Hongdao’s thoughts turned to introversion, which was the choice he had to make to save his life under the pressure of the Party and the government, and also the result of self-reflection after reading deeply. The Buddhist thought changed from Zen to the unity of Zen and Pure land sect, and returned to the pure land.He made a profound review of the past years’ frivolity in the Theory of Western Harmony, advocating both enlightenment and cultivation.Yuan Hongdao put forward the writer’s cultivation theory of "knowledge",his thinking mode changed from anti-human to pro-human,and demonstrated the rationality of "study heart" through "study ancient".The third chapter discusses the third stage of the development of Yuan Hongdao’s Buddhism and the concept of "spirit of nature".From the 29 th to the 38 th year of Wanli(1601-1610),Yuan Hongdao returned from penance to the way of being at ease with the nature of the world. At the same time,Yuan Hongdao took control of the three religions with only the concept of the Consciousness-only School, and completed the transformation of the ideological realm of plain and solid.Under the influence of this state of mind of harmony,Yuan Hongdao took "storage of knowledge and air out" as the process of literary creation, took "light" as the aesthetic realm, restricted the whole process of literature from generation to creation with "quality",and explained the concept of spirituality in a comprehensive and detailed way.The literary view of spirituality is thus stereotyped. The fourth chapter discusses the unchanging core of Yuan Hongdao’s thought and the construction of "spirit" literary view system. The change of Yuan Hongdao’s thought is characterized by harmony and repentance. What remains unchanged is the pursuit of life and death, and the praise of the essence of mind. From the perspective of body, property and use, this paper analyzes the construction of Yuan Hongdao’s spirituality view as follows: spirituality is the noumenton,"truth" is the property, and transmission is the function.Yuan Hongdao uses "wonderful understanding" to connect the upper and lower levels and realize the harmony and unity of body and phase of use.The transfer of Yuan Hongdao’s literary thoughts in the early and late periods mainly lies in the difference of his understanding of "truth".
