The Rectification And Complement On The Table Of Imperial Clan’s Genealogy In Xin Tang Shu

The Table of Imperial Clan’s Genealogy in Xin Tang Shu records the genealogy of2369 persons in 41 clans of imperial clan in Tang dynasty,including 11 prime ministers,most of whom are not found in other documents.These contents for the study of the Tang Dynasty clan members in the political,economic,cultural and other aspects of the preservation of quite reliable data,historical value is very high,so it is highly valued by Tang history researchers.However,due to years of war and social unrest in the late of the Tang Dynasty and five dynasties,the Tang Dynasty documents were seriously lost,and the genealogy of Li Tang’s family was not spared,which led to the great difficulties Lv Xiaqing encountered at the beginning of compiling the Genealogy of the Family.Coupled with the negligence in the process of copying and engraving in the past dynasties,it is inevitable that there are many mistakes and omissions in the "Imperial family Table".Since Wu Zhen’s rigorous reign in the Southern Song Dynasty,scholars have been revising and revising the’ Patriarchal Clan ’,and they have made fruitful results.However,these research results are in a fragmented state,which is not easy to retrieve and use,and need to be sorted out systematically.In recent years,epitaph of Tang Dynasty has been published in large numbers.Epitaph materials are not only original and reliable,but also detail the source of the clan,the family lineage,the children of marriage and the life of officials,which has important historical value.It has become a common practice to combine traditional historical materials with epitaph materials to promote the research.By systematically collating the research results of historians since Wu Zhen in the Southern Song Dynasty,and using 395 epitaphs,11 tablets,and other documents,this paper supplements and corrects 825 flaws in the table,such as missing characters,misfunctions of officials,mischaracters,and disordered lineage,and supplements the table with female characters.At the same time,research the family members birth and death years,marriage,official,residence,burial place,social contacts and other information.It is hoped to provide a reliable data for further research of Tang clan group.
