A Practical Report On The Translation Of Scientific And Technological Texts Under The Guidance Of Communicative Translation Theory

Nowadays,the trend of globalization is more and more obvious.As one of the emerging science and technology industries,biotechnology has been widely concerned and studied at home and abroad,and synthetic biology has also attracted the eyes of the world.Biotechnology represents the direction of the future world’s development.Chinese biotechnology has emerged on the innovation stage,and it is also entering its golden age of development and growth.Today,with the rapid development of globalization,the acquisition of information related to biotechnology has a nonnegligible impact on its development.In order to accurately convey the communicative information of the original text to readers and give them a sense of fluency like their mother tongue,the translator chooses to use Newmark’s communicative translation theory as the basis for English-Chinese translation practice.This report is a translation practice based on the second chapter of The Genesis Machine by Amy Webb and Andrew Hessel.The translation practice involves the relevant characteristics of the biological age and the related risks of synthetic biology.The first chapter is about the introduction of the report.The second chapter discusses and grasps the important and difficult points in translation practice.Chapter three reviews the preparation before,during and after translation.Based on this,the fourth chapter describes Newmark’s communicative translation theory in detail,and analyzes and discusses it from the three levels of vocabulary,syntax and text under the guidance of this theory.The author selects 20 typical translation cases.Translation methods and skills such as amplication,conversion,linear and inverse translation omission and so on are adopted to achieve communicative translation.In the fifth chapter,the report draws a conclusion and summarizes the gains and deficiencies in translation practice.
