The Exploration And Creative Practice Of Hockney’s Expressive Color Language

In today’s new era of diversified artistic development where easel painting is constantly being impacted by emerging media,David Hockney has always maintained his obsession and exploration of traditional easel painting.His works are highly recognizable due to their personalized visual language system,and the vivid and clear colors created based on emotion have unique vitality.Hockney’s painting colors mainly went through three stages: immature and jerky-mature and lively-fresh and pure.This color evolution is inseparably related to his subjective consciousness and life experience.He created the current expressive color language system,provided a new vision and development path for contemporary painting colors,and influenced many artists.This expressive color is the soul of oil painting creation and plays a vital role in the expression of the painter’s emotions.Therefore,this thesis takes the expressive color in Hockney’s painting as a research point,and discusses the application and creation of its color by combining his own work "The moment",trying to present the new style of contemporary painting on the basis of exploring the artist’s color language.The article firstly sorts out and summarizes the literature related to Hockney’s color research in this field through literature research;secondly,combines the concept of "jue" in Buddhism-"primitive sense","consciousness" and "miaojue" to combine Hockney’s color research.Ni’s painting color is divided into three stages,namely: "spontaneous stage","conscious stage" and "free stage" of painting color.The development process of expressive color is explored;finally,through practical analysis,the specific impact of Hockney’s color language on the author’s ideas and actual creation and application is expounded.Through the analysis of the creative form,color technique and color emotion expression of " The moment ",this work clarifies how the work draws on and innovates Hockney’s expressive color language.It is hoped that through the research of this topic,a general review of this research point in theory will be completed,and an academic reference will be added to this research field.
