The formation and development of intangible cultural heritage is closely related to the geographical and human environment of the region, and it contains unique cultural, historical, recreational, educational and economic values, which can meet the diverse cultural needs of the public and is a valuable spiritual treasure of the Chinese nation. However, with the increasing globalisation of the economy, many intangible cultural heritages are being gradually forgotten by people under the influence of foreign cultures,so it is urgent to raise awareness of intangible cultural heritages and to protect and utilise them scientifically. In this thesis,we use the theory of sustainable development, literature, fieldwork, interviews and questionnaires to explore the current situation of the Wuqiao Shehuo. The thesis also discusses the difficulties faced by the government, the inheritors and the public, and finds that the intangible cultural heritage of Wuqiao has a lack of talent in the protection team, insufficient financial investment, lack of publicity,a lack of succession in the inheritance team,a lack of stability in the inheritance team, and limitations in the inheritance model. There are limitations;limited public awareness of Wuqiao Shehuo;lack of access to Wuqiao Shehuo activities;and low public awareness of Wuqiao Shehuo protection. In the end,the problems are analysed, new opportunities for development are actively explored, and reasonable and feasible suggestions and countermeasures are put forward. It is hoped that the research on the conservation and use of Wuqiao Shehuo will provide useful ideas for the conservation of other intangible cultural heritage in China.
