This is a report on the translation of excerpts from Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot(Kendall,2020).The source text addresses the issues surrounding black feminism.Hood feminism is the feminism of the working class of people who live in inner cities,rural communities.It is about whether all women actually have a common set of interests.By writing this book,the author believes that feminism focused on protecting and increasing the privileges of financially comfortable white women at the expense of women from marginalized groups,that mainstream feminists still largely ignore the needs of their poorer and browner sistersThis translation practice helps the translator to gain a basic understanding of feminism and interactivity,and to realize the role of translation as a bridge between cultural exchanges.And more importantly,this translation practice offers me a wonderful chance to imply the translation theories and strategies that I have learnt into reality,enhance the ability of reading comprehension and linguistic expression,and upgrade the practical ability of translation.The report will be implemented with the guidance of the communicative translation theory.Feminist translation strategies are considered to be applied in this translation practice.Two translation strategies are mainly adapted,which are preface or footnotes,and supplementing.Prefacing or footnoting allow feminist translators to explain the intentions of the original text,while supplementing is to compensate the difference between source language.
