Ren Bonian,based on Yun Shouping’s boneless art,absorbed the freehand brushwork styles of Xu Wei,Chen Chun,and Zhu Da,and combined them with Western sketching to create a new generation of painting style."Portrait of exhausted official" is one of the most classic works of this kind.This article takes "Portrait of exhausted official" as a starting point to explore how to integrate boneless techniques into contemporary meticulous figure painting,in order to enrich the expression forms of contemporary meticulous figure painting,and attempts to apply relevant research results to the author’s painting practice.However,currently,meticulous figure painting creators rarely discuss this.This article is written using research methods such as literature research,case analysis,and experience summary.Firstly,it is necessary to explore the common origin of craftsmanship and aesthetic awareness of imagery in both boneless and meticulous figure painting,in order to explore the feasibility of applying boneless techniques in the field of meticulous figure painting.Secondly,a specific analysis of the artistic characteristics and painting techniques of "Portrait of exhausted official" will lay a foundation for the author’s practical research in terms of integration and creation direction and brushwork.In addition,it is necessary to seek representative examples of such applications and innovations in contemporary meticulous figure painting,and further explore more possibilities for the comprehensive application of boneless techniques in the creation of meticulous figure painting.Finally,based on previous research work,the author attempts to apply the boneless technique to meticulous figure painting,hoping to achieve that the author can also use the boneless technique of concealed bone lines and enhanced colors in the creation of meticulous figure painting for narrative and thematic creation,and innovate and develop from weakening lines,plane colors,and diverse texture effects,which has important guiding significance for the author’s research and practice.
