The early literary works of female writers born in the 1970 s often depicted emotional relationships and marital life between the sexes, lacking a deep consideration of the spiritual domain and the narrative art of the novel. However, with the continuous enrichment of their life experiences and creative experiences, the literary face and novel forms of female writers born in the 1970 s are also changing. This article mainly analyzes the works of Wei Hui,Wei Wei,Lu Min,Sheng Keyi,Fu Xiuying,Qiao Ye,Teng Xiaolan, and other writers born in the 1970 s before and after the turn of the century, attempting to combine the spatial writing and narrative strategies of female writers born in the 1970 s.The purpose of this article is to sort out the relationship between the growth experiences, living environments of female writers born in the 1970 s,and the imagined spaces in their novels, and to summarize the spatial characteristics of their works based on the theories of spatial narrative and literary geography. The main body of the thesis is divided into three chapters, with an introduction and conclusion. The introduction mainly analyzes the current research status at home and abroad, examining the two levels of research on female writers born in the 1970 s and spatial narrative, and clarifying key concepts and categories.Chapter one analyzes the time and space experiences and creative concepts of female writers born in the 1970 s.Most female writers born in the 1970 s spent their youth in rural areas or small towns and then went to modern cities for education, work, and life.Their life experiences between urban and rural areas influence the creations of writers such as Wei Wei,Lu Min,Fu Xiuying, and Qiao Ye,which are reflected in their works through spatial transformations from village to town to city, and the time and space experiences of the characters are closely connected to the writers’ life experiences.Female writers born in the 1970 s depict many folds of human nature in their everyday life narratives and explore the eternal life in both time and space. The second chapter discusses the types of spatial writing by female writers born in the 1970 s,analyzes how they use spatial scenes and imagery to construct literary geographical spaces, cultural spaces, and spiritual spaces, and explores the interdependent relationship between spatial writing and the plot and characters of the novel.Dongba,Weihu Zha,and Fangcun are examples of the writer’s poetic imagination of the rural world,in which the writer stands at the starting point of seeking a spiritual hometown and looks back at their homeland, constructing a cultural space imbued with nostalgia. However, with the advancement of urbanization and rural revitalization strategies, the rural areas have shed their poetic veil and taken on more realistic meanings. The intermingling of reality and fiction in Baoshui,Zhangzhuang,Liangzhuang, and many small towns and cities reflects the characteristics of the era in which urban and rural areas are integrated and society is transforming.Bars, squares, apartments, and commercial streets,as modern spatial phenomena, witness the desire and struggle for survival of "runaways" who have fled to the city.It is in the process of "running away-looking back-running away again" that writers seek the origin and return of their generation, and examine the spiritual dilemma of emotional scarcity and identity recognition of modern people. The third chapter analyzes the spatial forms of novels by female writers born in the 1970 s.By analyzing the corresponding relationship between narrative time and spatial writing, the spatial expression of narrative perspective and narrative structure, the spatial writing of the content level and the communicability of the spatial narrative structure of the author’s novel are revealed. The dual perspectives of first-person narration, dialogues between the narrative subject and others, and multi-perspective gameplay and overlap all demonstrate the spatial characteristics of the text.In addition, the parallel structure with interwoven time and space and similar themes,network-like structures that unfold the story from multiple levels and angles, and circular structures that correspond to the characters’ destinies all showcase the gradual maturation of the narrative skills and artistic expression of female writers born in the1970 s.Finally, the article explores the value and significance of their literary spatial construction. At the same time,it clarifies that there are still some shortcomings in the aesthetic aspect of the novel creation of female writers born in the 1970 s,and it is necessary to reflect on their creation in combination with the current cultural context. |
