| In this era of mass entrepreneurship and innovation,it is particularly important to enhance the creativity of individuals in terms of how to promote economic development and the realisation of their self-worth..From a social cognitive perspective, some scholars have suggested that counter-stereotype interventions can promote creative thinking through the mediating effect of cognitive flexibility. However, using a single creative thinking test to measure creativity, the results are not widely representative(Runco,Acar,2012).The impact of counter-stereotype interventions on insight problem and their continuity effects are unclear.Furthermore, research has shown that the continuity effect of counter-stereotype interventions is strongly related to the form and number of interventions. Therefore,it is necessary to explore the effects of counter-stereotype interventions on creativity insight problem and their continuity effects.Based on this, this study used multiple creativity measurement paradigms based on previous research to explore the continuity effects of counter-stereotype interventions on creativity. In Experiment 1,a one-way between-subjects design was used with university students as subjects. The independent variable was the type of intervention(counter-stereotype,stereotype)and the dependent variable was subjects’ performance on epiphanic problem solving,i.e.block cracking and brain teasers. It was found that the anti-stereotype intervention performed better on creativity epiphanies compared to stereotypes.Experiment 2,using a 2(intervention type: counter-stereotype,stereotype)× 2(measurement time: immediate test,24-hour post-test)mixed experimental design, explored the effects of the counter-stereotype intervention on the UUT,RAT,and block breaking as well as the continuation effects. The independent variable was the type of intervention as a between-subjects variable, the time of measurement as a within-subjects variable, and the dependent variable was the subjects’ performance at different time points on the UUT,RAT,and block breaking.Subjects with no significant differences in creativity levels were screened to complete the counter-stereotype intervention with the creativity instant test, and the creativity test was administered again 24 hours later. The results showed that the counter-stereotype intervention significantly boosted the RAT and the block breaking instant test compared to the stereotype, and the boosting effect persisted 24 hours later. The counter-stereotype intervention boosted UUT test scores, but not significantly compared to stereotypes.Experiment 3,using a 2(intervention type: dual-task anti-stereotype,single-task anti-stereotype)× 2(measurement time: immediate test,24 hours later)mixed experimental design, explored the effects of different intervention forms on the UUT,RAT,and block breaking as well as the continuation effects. The independent variable was the type of intervention as a between-subjects variable, the time of measurement as a within-subjects variable, and the dependent variable was the performance of subjects at different time points on the UUT,RAT,and block breaking.Subjects with no significant differences in creativity levels were screened to complete the counter-stereotype intervention with the creativity instant test, and the creativity test was administered again 24 hours later. The results showed that compared to the single-task counter-stereotype intervention, the dual-task counter-stereotype facilitated the performance on the UUT,RAT,and block breaking instant tests, and after 24 hours, there was no facilitation effect on the UUT test, while the facilitation effect on the RAT and block breaking tests remained. In summary, this study found that the counter-stereotype intervention was an effective way to consistently improve insight problem solving. This not only contributes to the development of creativity enhancement research, but also helps to improve the research on counter-stereotype interventions. Moreover, the intervention tasks involved in this study are easy to perform and provide a simple intervention for the continuous enhancement of creativity while enhancing the application of insight problem solving. |
