| In the rapid development of information age, information has increasingly become the most active and decisive factor in all fields of society. The informative text has strong practicability, high timeliness and wide application, and plays a vital role in global economic and cultural development. Therefore, its translation should be concise in language and clear in logic, aiming to convey facts and opinions. However, there still exists various theoretical and practical problems in the interlingual translation of such texts. The paper takes the book Wait,I’m Working With Who?!?as a case, through the study of its E-C translation techniques,to explore its effective path in providing information and promoting cultural exchanges.Eugene Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory seeks the closest and natural equivalence between the original text and the translation in terms of semantics and stylistics, emphasizing that the response of the target readers to the translation is equivalent to that of the source readers to the original text. The selected text for the translation practice belongs to workplace informative text,in the translation process, the translator should strive to produce faithful and fluent translation in target language and conform to its language habit. This attempt is perfectly in line with the theory which emphasizes the transfer of information and the response of readers.Under the guidance of the theory, this paper discusses the translation techniques of such text from lexical, syntactic and textual levels with case analysis. It can be concluded that at lexical level, translation techniques of amplification, omission and conversion can be used for the Chinese translation of workplace information text to make the target language more concise and clear, and in line with the target readers’ reading habits;combination, division and voice change can be adopted at the syntactic level to reflect the linguistic features of the target language and enhance the readability of the translated text;and collocation in lexical cohesion, substitution in structural cohesion and logical cohesion can be applied at textual level based on Functional Equivalence Theory, using various cohesive ties to achieve the effect of coherence,so that the translation is concise and fluent, faithfully conveys the original information, and achieves an equivalent response among the target readers. |
