| The report of the Party’s 20 th National Congress emphasizes that morality is the root of education thus cultivating students’ virtues and morality should be implemented.“Curriculum ideological and politics” is an effective measure to carry out the fundamental task of moral cultivation.The thinking of senior high school students is still developing,and they lack certain judgment on various culture.Moreover,foreign culture accounts for a high proportion in English courses,so students tend to advocate other culture and ignore their own culture.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the ideological and political elements in English textbooks and integrate them into classroom teaching organically,so as to give full play to the educational function of English subject.It is helpful to improve teachers’ ideological and political awareness and ability,cultivate high school students’ self-cultivation of Chinese feelings and firm cultural confidence.This study selects the reading section of compulsory volumes 1-3 of high school English textbooks of the People’s Education Edition(2019)and the high school English teachers of W Middle School in Guizhou Province as the research objects.Firstly,text analysis method is used to excavate the ideological and political elements contained in the reading texts,taking the "Overall Framework for Developing Core Literacy of Chinese Students" as the classification standard,and horizontal and vertical analysis is made on their proportion and distribution situation.Secondly,taking W Middle School as an example to investigate the current situation of teachers’ exploration and application of ideological and political elements in textbooks in their teaching by using classroom observation and interview methods.Finally,from the perspective of teachers,putting forward the exploration and application strategies of ideological and political elements in high school English textbooks.This study focuses on the following questions: First,What ideological and political elements are contained in the reading section and what is the proportion and distribution trend? Second,What are the current status and problems of high school English teachers’ exploration and application of ideological and political elements in textbooks? Third,teachers how to better explore and apply ideological and political elements in textbooks.The findings are as follows: The reading section contains rich ideological and political elements,and the implementation of curriculum ideological and political is feasible.Among them,the distribution of three ideological and political elements is uneven,but the major ones are the kinds of cultural foundation and social participation,which is conducive to the implementation of curriculum ideological and political elements.However,current high school English teachers do not have adequate knowledge of ideological and political thinking in the curriculum,and have weak ideological and political awareness.They do not fully explore ideological and political elements in textbooks and courses,and lack ideological and political ability.Based on the existing problems,from the perspective of teacher,it is necessary to complete the shortcomings in understanding to improve the ideological and political theory of the curriculum,build a teacher community to fully explore the ideological and political elements of the textbook,coordinate all teaching links to enhance the ideological and political teaching ability.This study is a beneficial exploration of integrating "curriculum ideology and politics" into high school English teaching,and provides ideas for high school English teachers to explore and apply ideological and political elements in textbooks,so as to improve the function of English subject education. |
