According to the 2022 English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education issued by the Ministry of Education,students should have courage to overcome difficulties and be good at using learning strategies to improve learning efficiency.English classroom learning anxiety and learning strategies are two important factors in the process of learning,therefore to investigate the present situation of the two and further analysis of the relationship between the two factors can help teachers pay attention to students’ emotional state,so as to create a healthy classroom learning environment for students,help students reduce their anxiety and guide students to choose suitable learning strategy,and improve the efficiency of classroom learning.In this study,two questionnaires were distributed to students in grade seven of Y Middle School: English Classroom Learning Anxiety Scale for Junior Middle School Students and English Learning Strategy Scale for Junior Middle School Students,and quantitative analysis of 116 collected valid questionnaires were conducted.The follow contents are mainly discussed: 1)the current situation and characteristics of junior high school students’ English learning anxiety;2)the current situation and characteristics of the use of English learning strategies of junior high school students;3)the relationship between the English learning anxiety of junior high school students and English learning strategies.The results are as follows: from the analysis results of learning anxiety,junior high school students generally have anxiety in English classroom learning to a high degree;the degree of anxiety between boys and girls is not much different.As for the analysis results of the learning strategies,junior high school students use a low level of English learning strategies;girls have a significantly higher level of using learning strategies than boys.From the relationship between the two factors,the relationship between English classroom learning anxiety and English learning strategies of junior middle school students is obviously negatively correlated,that is,the higher the English classroom learning anxiety of junior middle school students is,the less the use of English learning strategies.Learning anxiety in English classrooms could explain 17% of the changes in learning strategy use.Finally,based on the research results,this study puts forward some related teaching suggestions for English teaching in junior high school.Teachers should create a good classroom atmosphere,use multiple classroom evaluation,attach importance to English learning strategy and so on to create a low anxiety language learning classroom environment,reduce the junior high school students’ English classroom learning anxiety,attention to guide the choice and use of English learning strategy,improve the students’ English learning efficiency and communication ability.
