| In English learning,the influence of anxiety cannot be ignored.Learning strategies are the prerequisite for improving learning efficiency and developing independent learning ability.However,few studies have explored how to reduce learning anxiety of junior high school students from the perspective of improving learners’ own learning strategies.Therefore,this study focused on:(1)What is the situation of junior high school students’ English learning anxiety and their use of learning strategies?(2)What is the relationship between junior high school students’ English learning anxiety and their use of learning strategies? What are the differences in the use of English learning strategies between high and low anxiety students?This study took 90 grade 8 students from a junior middle school in Xi’an as the research participants.Firstly,two questionnaires were used to investigate the situation of English learning anxiety and use of learning strategies among junior high school students,and the correlation between the two was analyzed.Secondly,based on the questionnaire analysis,one-to-one interviews were conducted with five students with the highest and five students with the lowest scores.The results showed that: 1.Anxiety was prevalent in junior high school students’ English learning,and the degree of anxiety was above medium;Learning strategies were widely used,and the level of use was below medium.2.There was a significant negative correlation between English learning anxiety and learning strategies.There were significant differences in the use of learning strategies between high and low anxiety groups: low anxiety students used more frequently;The role of network multimedia in English learning cannot be ignored.Based on the research results and related theories,this study put forward some suggestions to alleviate junior high school students’ English learning anxiety from the perspective of learning strategies. |
