According to the 50 th Statistical Report on the Internet Development in China, the proportion of users who use mobile phones to access the Internet is as high as 99.6%,and the problem of mobile phone dependence has attracted widespread attention.Excessive use of mobile phones can negatively affect our physical and mental health, and even disrupt normal life.As the main group of smartphone users, college students have more free time and demand for mobile phone use,and their mobile phone dependence behavior is also more serious, which should be given enough attention.According to the comprehensive path model and the I-PACE model of mobile phone dependence, individuals with low self-control levels are more likely to have mobile phone dependence. In addition, the power model of self-control and the timelimited self-regulation theory of bedtime procrastination point out that individuals with lower self-control are more likely to delay falling asleep; The survey of domestic college students also shows that bedtime procrastination is an important influencing factor of mobile phone dependence. At the same time, and the theory of emotion repair believes that when individuals produce negative emotions that need to be repaired, excessive frequency of emotion regulation will cause procrastination; And foreign study has shown that focusing on emotion regulation can lead to failure in other areas of self-control,that is,emotion regulation will interfere with the protective effect of self-control on bedtime procrastination. Therefore, based on the above theories and previous research, this study will explore the relationship between self-control,mobile phone dependence, bedtime procrastination and emotion regulation,to explain the influence mechanism of self-control on college students’ mobile phone dependence, whether bedtime procrastination plays a mediating role, and whether emotion regulation plays a regulating role in self-control in bedtime procrastination,so as to provide corresponding theoretical basis for the prevention and intervention of problem behavior. This study adopted the questionnaire survey to investigate 623 college students in November and December 2022.The survey adopts professional tools like Demographic Questionnaire,Self-Control Scale,Mobile Phone Addiction Index scale,Bedtime Procrastination Scale and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire.Amos 24.0 was used to conduct confirmatory factor analysis on the collected scales, and SPSS 22.0 statistical software and PROCESS macro program were used for data processing, and descriptive statistics,chi-square-test,t-test and F-test were used to describe the relationship between demographic conditions and self-control,mobile phone dependence, bedtime procrastination and emotional regulation, and the Pearson correlation coefficient method was used to explore the correlation between these four variables. The research shows:(1)Among all participants, the level of mobile phone dependence is moderate, with a total of 292 mobile phone dependents, accounting for 46.9%,and there are significant differences between mobile phone dependence group and normal group participants in place of origin, grade, major, function, time, purpose of mobile phone use,self-control and bedtime procrastination;(2)There are significant differences in self-control,mobile phone dependence, bedtime procrastination, and emotional regulation in the place of origin, grade, and major;Among them, individuals from rural areas and master’s and higher grades have stronger self-control;individuals from towns and senior grades have higher levels of mobile phone dependence and bedtime procrastination; However, medical college students maintains better control entertainment, and have lower levels of mobile phone dependence and bedtime procrastination;and college students from rural areas, medicine, art and sports majors have higher frequency of emotion regulation;(3)Self-control can negatively predict college students’ mobile phone dependence and bedtime procrastination, and bedtime procrastination can positively predict the occurrence of mobile phone dependence;(4)Bedtime procrastination plays a part-mediating role in the relationship between self-control and mobile phone dependence.Self-control affects college students’ mobile phone dependence behavior through bedtime procrastination;(5)Emotion regulation plays a regulating role in self-control and bedtime procrastination.Among college students with low levels of emotion regulation, high self-control levels are more protective against bedtime procrastination. In conclusion, this study concludes that when college students’ self-control level is lower,it increases the possibility of mobile phone dependence, and self-control can not only affect mobile phone dependence alone, but also have an indirect impact through the mediating role of bedtime procrastination. For college students with a high degree of mobile phone dependence, appropriately reducing the frequency of emotion regulation can strengthen the protective effect of self-control on bedtime procrastination, thereby reducing mobile phone dependence behavior.Corresponding measures can be taken from three aspects: individual self-control supervision, bedtime environment and emotion attention strategy to improve college students’ self-control ability, fall sleep early, and reduce the frequency of emotion regulation,in order to effectively cope with the aggravation of college students’ mobile phone dependence behavior. |
